Shaving irritation is a common issue, especially for men with sensitive skin. If your skin becomes red, itchy, or you get razor burn after shaving, it could be because you’re not shaving with proper technique, you have dry skin, or you’re using dull blades. o Causes of beard shaving irritation

Shaving for many men is an everyday act that is often carried out automatically. But over time, the skin can become irritated if shaving is not done properly.

Shaving irritation is a skin irritation that can be caused by mistakes made when using a razor. It usually appears a few minutes after shaving and can lead to a rash in severe cases.

There can be several causes:

  • Dry shaving: if you don’t prepare your skin for shaving and use the right shaving products (such as shaving foam or shaving gel) the razor does not glide well over the skin, which can lead to razor burn, irritation and redness;
  • Excessive pressure: if you put too much pressure on your skin with the razor, it can become stressed and lead to redness and razor bumps, so it is always a good idea to glide the razor gently over the skin;
  • Excessively worn blades: attention should always be paid to the condition of the blades of your razor. If they are dull, the razor will not glide well over the skin and multiple attempts will be needed to remove the hairs with the risk of shaving irritation and ingrown hairs.

o How to shave correctly

For many men, shaving is an indispensable ritual, but attention must always be paid to the steps involved. There are some helpful tips to follow to take care of your skin while shaving and avoid post-shaving irritation.

Here are some tips:

▪ Before shaving

  1. Prep your skin with warm water to open your pores and make shaving easier. The heat will help the razor glide over the skin. This will also help prevent razor bumps.
  2. Then apply a moisturizing shaving gel to the area, waiting a few seconds before using the razor so that the product takes effect.

▪ During shaving

  1. Rinse the razor under warm water before starting.
  2. When shaving, always follow the direction of hair growth to prevent ingrown hairs.
  3. Always use gentle movements, never pressing too hard, to avoid irritation and cuts. Rinse the razor every few strokes.

▪ After shaving

  1. When shaving is complete, rinse with plenty of lukewarm water to remove all traces of product and dry your face with a soft cloth, gently patting the skin without rubbing.
  2. Apply an aftershave to hydrate and soothe the skin post-shaving.

o What products to use when shaving

To improve your skin after shaving, you should use products that hydrate and protect the face. We recommend the Biotherm Homme Shaving Foam – a shaving foam for sensitive skin that enriches with Biotherm Homme pro-comfort technology. With its gentle, foaming texture, it makes contact with the skin, leaving it soft and moisturized.

After shaving, Biotherm recommends Biotherm Homme Basics Line After Shave Lotion, a soothing aftershave that helps the skin recover after shaving. Its formula contains Biotech Plankton™ to soothe and soften the skin, preventing irritation.

It should be applied after shaving to reduce redness and soothe the skin. Follow this shaving routine consistently to get a smooth, irritation-free face.
