Definition, examples and benefits of facial gymnastics

With the passing of time, it’s inevitable that the skin will show signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles and expression lines. This happens because the production of collagen and elastin, which help keep the skin toned and elastic, is reduced. But there are some ways to you can make your skin look younger, such as facial gymnastics.
Let's find out what it is and how to do it.

a. What is facial gymnastics

By facial gymnastics, we mean all those exercises aimed at stimulating circulation in the face and making the skin more elastic.Loss of firmness is inevitable as time passes, but with certain exercises, we can make the skin look younger. It’s a real "anti-aging workout," toning the muscles of the face, minimizing wrinkles and the signs of aging. It also helps to reactivate microcirculation, promoting oxygenation of the skin on the face.

b. The benefits of facial gymnastics

Facial gymnastics brings real benefits to the skin's tone.
Just as you do physical activity to keep your body muscles toned, you should do the same with the skin on our face, to keep it toned and elastic.
The signs of aging are often concentrated on certain areas of the face, such as around the lips or eyes, as they are the most sensitive to expressions. But if you wish to minimize wrinkles and signs of aging, you can try some facial exercises.

c. Which facial exercises should I do?

Sooner or later wrinkles will appear on your face: around the eyes, around the lips or on the sides of the nose. This is inevitable as skin loses elasticity over time. However, we can try to slow it down a little with some facial exercises.

These exercises take just 10-15 minutes a day and can even be done while doing other things, such as watching TV.

i. Combating wrinkles around the eyes

The eye area is a very delicate part of the face because the skin is thinner and therefore more sensitive to the passing of time. You can often see the appearance of small wrinkles here. To smooth them, close your eyes and place your index fingers on their outer sides, pulling the skin toward the temples. Hold the position for at least 20 seconds, and then let go of the skin and relax the muscle. Repeat the exercise about 10 times.

ii. Cheekbone exercises

Cheekbones also often show signs of aging and may look a little less toned. To improve their appearance, simply place your index fingers on your cheekbones and smile. Hold the position for 15 seconds and then stop smiling but keeping your cheekbones high, for another 5 seconds.
By repeating the exercise five times, you will feel your facial muscles working.

iii. Minimize lip contour wrinkles

Just like the eye area, the lip zone is one of the most sensitive areas of the face as it is constantly moving when we talk and laugh. Here is a very simple exercise to smooth out the wrinkles around the lip area: say "O," holding the position of your mouth for a few seconds and then say “A”. Do this about ten times.

d. Anti-aging skincare

To counteract the signs of aging, in addition to facial gymnastics, you should adopt a skincare routine designed specifically for this purpose.
Biotherm recommends Cera Repair, a new face cream designed to combat the first signs of aging. The product is designed for those with younger skin who want to reduce the visibility of their first wrinkles. Thanks to its formula, with a rich composition of ingredients with restorative properties, it helps the skin look more hydrated and stronger, right from the first use.

For more mature skin, Biotherm recommends Blue Pro-Retinol Multi-Correct Cream, the anti-aging treatment with multi-corrective action on wrinkles, fine lines, skin texture and firmness. Thanks to its composition, with 92 percent ingredients of natural origin, it gently exfoliates the skin, making it brighter, smoother and firmer.
