When and how often sunscreen should be applied

Protecting the skin daily from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays is essential, especially in the summer. Sunscreens are very strongly recommended as their primary purpose is to protect the skin from UVB and UVA damage, one of the main causes of blemishes and photo-aging. In the summer, when sun exposure is greater and more intense, you should therefore apply suncream every two hours, or more frequently if your skin comes into contact with water, in order to boost the protective shield. Here is the Biotherm experts’ advice on how to choose the right sunscreen with the correct SPF factor and apply it correctly.

How and how often to apply sunscreen

In the summer, your skin’s to the sun is almost constant, so you need to protect it with specific products. As the first step in a protective routine, Biotherm experts provide simple and practical advice beyond simply using sunscreen.

This starts with limiting sun exposure as much as possible. It’s also a good idea to avoid the hottest hours of the day when the risk is greatest. As far as applying the product is concerned, it should be applied to the body and face before exposing the skin to the sun, reapplying frequently and abundantly, especially when the skin comes into contact with water.

Regarding Biotherm formulas, we recommend Waterlover Hydration Sunmilk SPF50+, the product with the highest SPF protection factor in the Biotherm sunscreen line. This body milk, with its fluid, fresh and fast-absorbing texture, applies easily and evenly to effectively protect every part of the face and body. The moisturizing Waterlover Hydrating Sun Milk SPF50+ is water-resistant and designed with a 71% biodegradable formula certified to OECD 301 tests and ISO equivalents, with packaging containing 45% less plastic than a traditional tube.

Alternatively, Waterlover is an innovative and highly protective sunscreen. This is a perfect product for those seeking effective protection against UVA/UVB rays without compromising on skin hydration. This product is formulated with an ultra-light, almost invisible texture that absorbs quickly without leaving an oily residue. Waterlover sunscreen contains a combination of two STAR ingredients: the probiotic Life Plankton™ fraction, which promotes perfect bioaffinity with the skin, and Niacinamide, which helps keep the skin hydrated and healthy-looking. Thanks to this powerful blend of ingredients, Waterlover sunscreen provides sun protection while combating the signs of aging caused by UV rays.

Why consistent application of sunscreen is essential

A lack of tan is the main deterrent to using sunscreens, given the widespread but incorrect belief that SPF factors prevent you from tanning. On the contrary, sunburn and severe burning caused by unprotected exposure not only forces you to avoid the sun, but also causes your tan to fade quickly. Biotherm's sunscreen products also include Waterlover Hydrating Sun Milk SPF30. A body milk with a fresh, creamy texture that leaves a delicate lingering scent, the product is water-resistant, and here again Biotherm Laboratories demonstrates its environmental commitments by producing a cream with a 79% biodegradable formula, according to OECD tests or their equivalent, and packaging with 43% less plastic than the previous version.
An essential product to be applied regularly throughout the day, Biotherm sunscreens are an indispensable investment in your skin’s beauty and protection.
