How to combat impurities on the face and skin

Shiny skin, enlarged pores, blackheads... If you fit this description, your skin probably has impurities. Skin impurities are very common in adolescence but can also occur in adulthood, especially in times of high stress or due to hormonal imbalances. For many people it’s a source of great discomfort, often leading them to wash their skin regularly with aggressive products and deliberately skip the moisturizing stage, in the hope of saying goodbye forever to the much-hated excess sebum. The result? To protect itself, the skin starts to produce even more sebum(rebound effect). So what’s the right way to care for skin with impurities and combat blemishes? First by knowing your skin and then by following the advice of real experts.

How to take care of impure and oily skin

The right skincare for impure and oily skin should achieve three goals:

  • unblock the pores;
  • rebalance sebum production;
  • provide the skin with proper moisture.

To do this, you should cleanse your face twice a day with gentle, sebum-regulating products. This is because sebum should never be eliminated completely. On the skin it acts as a protective glove, strengthening the skin barrier against external factors. Once or twice a week you should exfoliate your skin for an even cleaner face.

Facial cleansing should always be followed by moisturizing. There are serums and creams designed exclusively for the needs of oily, impure and acne-prone skin. These products usually have a very light and easily absorbed texture .

When you want to give your face a moisture boost, there’s nothing better than a face mask. After just one application, LIFE PLANKTON™ MASK intensely moisturizes, soothes and smooths the complexion. Its secret is Life Plankton, which occurs naturally in the springs of the French Pyrenees. The ancient Romans believed that these pools of water were miraculous and bathed in them at the end of each battle to heal the wounds on their bodies. It wasn’t until 1952 that a physician, Joss Julien, finally discovered the incredible ingredient and its restorative properties. It’s now always used in Biotherm product formulas.

It’s a good idea to apply the mask once or twice a week for a month to achieve soft, glowing (but not shiny) and properly moisturized skin.

Impure and dry skin

Impure skin is not always synonymous with oily skin. It’s also possible for the skin to have impurities but at the same time be rough to the touch and dehydrated. To improve the appearance of the skin in this case, you should first adopt good skincare habits by always cleansing your face and using suitable products. Serums, creams and face masks should both regulate sebum production and nourish and moisturize the skin.

From Biotherm Laboratories comes LIFE PLANKTON™ MASK, a cream face mask that alleviates dryness, redness and skin tension.

It should be applied once or twice a week to the face and neck, at night before going to bed. It should be left on overnight and rinsed off in the morning, using a cleanser suitable for impure skin.

In just four weeks, the face will appear visibly more radiant and the complexion more even.
